Situated in the beautiful Catskills Mountains, just several hours north of New York City, AHRC’s Camp Loyaltown provides a safe and fun summer camp experience every year to over 650 campers with special needs. A program of Citizens, Inc., one of the leading providers of services for those with developmental and intellectual disabilities, the camp has operated for more than four decades.
Corporate, foundation, and government funds help keep tuition costs manageable. Additionally, many fundraising events are held in support of this venture, including the Camp Loyaltown Auction. Through donor support, the auction has raised funds for worthy projects such as paving camp roads for wheelchair accessibility, installing a solar-panel-heated swimming pool, and offering therapeutic horseback rides.
The law firm of Rosicki, Rosicki & Associates attended the auction in 2012, which sought to raise funds to install an interactive sensory garden on the campgrounds, to further engage campers in nature.
