At the 2014 Hunter’s Hope gala in New York, an annual fundraising event for the Hunter’s Hope Foundation, attendees found themselves working to support a shared mission while simultaneously celebrating the life and work of founder Jim Kelly and his family. The gala took place on March 28 even as Mr. Kelly continued to undergo treatment for cancer at New York City’s Lenox Hill Hospital. The Kellys sent their message of support for those who came to aid the foundation’s mission through family friend and gala sponsor Tom Rosicki. The foundation has been supported for many years by the law firm Rosicki, Rosicki & Associates, P.C.
Mr. Rosicki read a poem he had shared with the Kellys, which was written in honor of their work. Mr. Rosicki relayed the Kellys’ response of grateful appreciation and continued vigilance in the fight against Krabbe disease and other leukodystrophies. Acknowledging the difficulties and medical issues facing Mr. Kelly, Tom Rosicki reminded the gala attendees that “there’s a reason why it’s called Hunter’s Hope … it’s hope.” The successful gala serves as a testament to western New Yorkers’ dedication to the Kellys’ cause and the appreciation they feel for the work of Jim Kelly as he faces new challenges.
