AHRC Workforce, an initiative of AHRC Nassau, helps people with disabilities to find gainful employment through participation in job skills and job placement programs. AHRC Workforce, which prepares clients for jobs in fields such as landscaping and commercial cleaning, works with companies that are interested in hiring people with disabilities. Through their participation in these programs, people with disabilities can take a major step toward independence.
Through AHRC Nassau’s Supported Employment Department, specialists screen applicants to find jobs that fit their skills and interests. Specialists also work with employers and potential employees to help them achieve job performance standards at or above employers’ expectations. In the long term, the program aims to help participants work as independently as possible.
AHRC Workforce has built partnerships with a number of businesses and corporations that are committed to hiring people with disabilities. These include CVS Pharmacy; the New York Islanders; and Rosicki, Rosicki & Associates, P.C.
Cynthia Rosicki of Rosicki, Rosicki & Associates serves as a board member of AHRC Nassau.
